Grades & Score Requirements
When registering for the TOPIK exam, you will need to choose either TOPIK I or TOPIK II.
Your final TOPIK level (1 to 6) is determined by your total score
- TOPIK I → Level 1 or 2
- TOPIK II → Level 3 to 6
You don’t need to apply for a specific level, just choose the right test type (I or II), and your score will determine your placement.

All Listening and Reading questions use multiple choice format.

Unlike TOPIK I, the writing section in TOPIK II requires free-form answers and tests your ability to express ideas clearly in Korean. The Writing section includes 4 questions in total:
- 2 short-answer questions
- 2 essay questions
Writing length:
Intermediate level: about 200–300 characters
Advanced level: about 600–700 characters
