TOPIK IBT Korean Test: Sections, Timing, Fee and Scoring
TOPIK is now offering a new testing option: the TOPIK IBT (Internet Based Test). If you prefer using a computer over traditional paper tests, the IBT version might be right for you. In this post, I’ll explain what the TOPIK IBT is, how it differs from the PBT (Paper-Based Test), what sections are included, the timing, and what to expect when you take the IBT format.
What Is the TOPIK IBT?
TOPIK IBT stands for TOPIK Internet Based Test. Unlike the traditional paper test, the IBT is completed entirely on a computer at an official test center. You cannot take the TOPIK IBT at home. You must go to a designated computer based test center.
Special Features of the TOPIK IBT
- Clearer audio through personal headphones
- Faster writing for those comfortable typing in Korean
- Immediate navigation between questions (computer interface)
- On screen timer to track your time during each section
However, if you are not confident typing in Korean, you may want to practice beforehand to save time during the writing section.
